Firefox 3.5.5 released

icon_lg_browser_ffThe latest update to the Firefox 3.5 version has been released. It contains fix fixes, three of which are critical. For full details of the release see the Bug List from Mozilla, or the Firefox 3.5.5 Release Notes.

No update for the 3.0 version of Firefox was made.

 

Cloud Testing has updated it’s cloud testing agents with this release.

Firefox 3.5.3 & 3.0.14

Th next releases of Firefox 3.5.3 and 3.0.14, which is due out soon (early September 2009), will have an immediate impact on users browsing experience. After update, they will check how up-to-date various add-ins are.

If the user does not have Flash installed, the user will see the familiar upgrade screen:

NormalPageEven though we think that this is a positive thing, it is likely to cause some confusion until users get used to it.

Firefox 3.5.2 Beta 1 released.

According to the release note

Firefox 3.5.2 Beta fixes the following issues:

  • Several security and stability issues.
  • Images with ICC profiles now render properly on all monitors.

Jetpack 0.3 Released for Firefox 3.5

Mozilla Labs has released Jetpack 0.3 – whcih only works with Firefox 3.5

According to the release, over 60,000 people are using the Jetpack platform to extend their browsing experience.

Firefox 3.5.1 due mid to end of July

According to notes of a recent Firefox Platform meeting a 3.5.1 release of Firefox is expected in mid-to end of July.

The notes describe what it is anticipated will be contained at this stage:

  • blocking1.9.1.1 flag has been created
  • requested an approval1.9.1.1 flag as well bug 501393
  • goal of this release should be a quick-turnaround that:
    • fixes topcrashes and bugs we almost held ship for: bug 427715, bug 499538, bug 500108, etc
    • can be shipped to 3.5 users in mid-to-late july, so narrow scope, small change
    • not sure if this will be Major Update offer version, or if that would be 3.5.2
    • nominate similar sounding bugs!

Firefox 3.5 final is released

The final release of Firefox 3.5 has now been released for download, with a flurry of Add-ons being updated to be compatible.

The script capture tool Selenium IDE has been updated to version 1.0.2 and is available for download at http://seleniumhq.org/download/.

NOTE: You may have to un-install the previous version of Selenium IDE (that you had working with Firefox 3.0), and re-install for Firefox 3.5.

Cloud Testing has already updated it’s live Cloud Agents to the latest version of Firefox, in addition to offering testing with the previous versions (2.0.20 & 3.0.11), as well as a number of other browsers:

Firefox 3.5 Release Candidate

The final release of the new version of Firefox (3.5) is coming nearer, with the latest Release Candidate (RC) being made available.

The following quote from the release notes lists what is available in this release:

Firefox 3.5 (Release Candidate) is based on the Gecko 1.9.1 rendering platform, which has been under development for the past year. Firefox 3.5 offers many changes over the previous version, supporting new web technologies, improving performance and ease of use, and adding new features for users:

  • This release candidate is now available in more than 70 languages – get your local version.
  • Improved tools for controlling your private data, including a Private Browsing Mode.
  • Better performance and stability with the new TraceMonkey JavaScript engine.
  • The ability to provide Location Aware Browsing using web standards for geolocation.
  • Support for native JSON, and web worker threads.
  • Improvements to the Gecko layout engine, including speculative parsing for faster content rendering.
  • Support for new web technologies such as: HTML5 <video> and <audio> elements, downloadable fonts and other new CSS properties, JavaScript query selectors, HTML5 offline data storage for applications, and SVG transforms.

Support for Firefox 3.5 added

Here at Cloud Testing, we have rolled out Firefox 3.5 Beta4 onto our Cloud Agents, so you can now run your scripts more browsers.

We now support:

  • Firefox 2 (2.0.0.20)
  • Firefox 3 (3.0.10)
  • Firefox 3.5 (3.5 RC2) [Updated 24th June]
  • Internet Explorer 6
  • Internet Explorer 7
  • Internet Explorer 8

You can choose to run your standard functional testing in the browser of your choice from the list above, or run a Cross Browser test to see what your site looks in all of the above.

We are currently working to add support for:

  • Google Chrome
  • Apple Safari (3.23 & 4)
  • Opera 9.6

All you have to do is upload your Selenium scripts and we will run them for you.
